Overheard at Panera Last Night

This kid* says to another kid ** in a taunting tone, "See you later, iguana!" and then just repeats "Iguana! Iguana!"

Meanwhile, the kid she's talking to and a few others that seemed to be in their group*** just stare at her while I'm sitting at my booth, cracking up.

I'm assuming she meant "See you later, alligator" or "Manana, iguana" but mashed them up, much like Biff in Back to the Future gets his insults wrong. (He says "Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?" instead of "Why don't you make like a tree and leave?")

Anyhow, the whole thing just sounded strange, and I had nothing else more important to talk about this morning, so: The End.

* 8? 10? I'm not a good guesstimator of children's ages.

** Maybe a year younger? See previous note.

*** There was a grown-up with them, but I think she was getting drinks or napkins or something.

  1. That's funny, but is it as funny as "a screen door on a battleship?" (another B2tF ref) :)
