Clock's Ticking

I have until 4:30 to finalize a manuscript and get it to an editor, so I really shouldn't be poking around teh Interwebs for an hour after rolling in about thirty minutes late to start with. But I'm a procrastinator at heart, so here I am.

Hmm. Late last night/early this morning I was thinking of some hi-larious tidbits that I was going to post here, but damn if I can remember them now.

I think one mentally composed item might have been about my experiment in making something approximating a sausage, egg, and cheese McGriddle at home. (Shut up! I like them!) It came out pretty well and was an excellent Tuesday night dinner, to be topped only by the falso River Nachos w/chicken, which is what I made last night.

For the uninitiated, River Nachos were once on the menu at the Rocky River Brew Pub, before the "new chef" decided to get all "inspired" by "Asian fusion" and replace them with "nachos" made of fried wontons topped with shredded cabbage and chicken bits with an assortment of soy and sweet & sour sauces, plus a dab of wasabi on the side.

There may or may not be more stuff in the recipe; I've only had them a few times to verify that they are indeed in no way, shape, or form in the same league as my beloved River Nachos. That hallowed dish calls for a patriotic mix of red, white, and blue tortilla chips with shredded lettuce, melted cheeses, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and your choice of chicken or steak. Nom nom nom. I have enough to make another batch tonight, and I'll wash it down with my last bottle of Great Lakes Christmas Ale.

Oh! That was one of the other things I was going to post about!

I was poking around the Media Fly channel on my Roku box and found this totally goofy Web series called "Beer Is Tasty." I only watched the episode about Sam Adams Octoberfest, but the part where they taste-tested those corndog-lookin' Jimmy Dean sausages-wrapped-in-pancakes (on a stick!) cracked me up. If you have some time to kill and a high threshold for dorkiness, enjoy.

In the meantime, I'd better suck it up and do some work. I'm on vacation until January 4, and may or may not be posting while I'm at home and/or on the road — in case anyone cares, which I doubt. So, happy Festivus and whatnot.

  1. I love breakfast for dinner! McDonald's-inspired or otherwise. Keith and I went to IHOP for breakfast this morning, which made me want pancakes for dinner one night this week ....
