As I may have mentioned before, Mad Men is the kind of show I should like, but I don't. I just can't get into it. I like the concept and love the retro feel, but some of the things the characters actually do piss me off, and I can't stand some of the actors in it because I'm still holding a grudge about something they did on another show. (Think Vincent what's-his-name as Angel's son on Angel, or John Slattery as the competition for Carol's affections on Ed. Although I did love him in that show with Ann Cusack, where he played the vet she was crushing on. I wonder if that's on YouTube anywhere . . . )
Plus, if I watched it for any extended period of time, I would get all font-nerdy about it. I'm not as well-versed as Mark Simonson, but I might react to some of the more obvious/egregious items he mentions in "Mad Men, Mad Props," which was recently featured on Kottke.org.
I love this show. The problem I have is my father was in advertising and I try not to think about this was how his job was.
